YouTube Music Update Improves Playback Continuity

The latest YouTube Music update lets you resume songs and podcasts from the exact spot on any device, replacing the old behavior of restarting tracks and showing source info like “From your iPhone.”

What Changed

Before this update, YouTube Music only allowed you to start from the same song on an album or playlist on mobile, but not the specific playback spot. The platform restarted the song from the beginning, forcing you to find where you left off on your own.

Each YouTube Music Now Playing queue was entirely independent and not connected.

Cross‑Device Continuity

The last song you played now shows up on any device—desktop or mobile—with “From your iPhone” or “From your browser” replacing artist information in the mini‑player when you switch platforms.

If you use YouTube Music a lot on desktop and then take that same song or podcast on the go, this feature will likely come in handy.
