Feature Overview

YouTube Music now supports true cross‑device handoff, allowing the mobile app to resume playback at the exact timestamp where you stopped on the web client.

How It Works

The server‑side update creates a persistent queue that is shared between desktop browsers and iOS/Android apps. When you pause a track on a laptop, the exact position is stored in the cloud. Opening the app on a phone or tablet automatically highlights that track and starts from the saved point.

Benefits for Power Users

  • Seamless continuity: No more restarting songs when switching devices.
  • Precise workflow integration: Ideal for research, editing, or background listening while working.
  • Time savings: Eliminates manual seeking and playlist reconstruction.

Getting Started

1. Ensure you are signed into the same Google account on all devices.
2. Update the YouTube Music app to the latest version.
3. Play any track on the web, then switch to your mobile device – the app will highlight the track and resume at the saved position.
