Verizon Outage Update

A recent Verizon outage has been resolved, according to the carrier. The outage, which began on January 14, 2026, affected hundreds of thousands of users across the US.

What Happened

Service monitor Downdetector reported widespread issues with Verizon's wireless coverage, with users seeing 'SOS' in their status bar where their network reception indicator should be.

As of the initial report, nearly 200,000 users had reported Verizon service outages on Downdetector. Verizon's own network status page was also down, and some other online Verizon services were affected.

Resolution and Account Credits

A Verizon representative stated that the outage has been resolved. If customers are still having issues, they are encouraged to restart their devices to reconnect to the network.

Verizon will provide account credits to affected customers, with details shared directly with them. The carrier apologized for the disruption.

During the outage, Verizon customers could not make calls or texts to most numbers, but they still had access to 911 services.

If you were affected by the outage, restart your device and check for account credits.
