Switch DLSS Versions with the NVIDIA Overlay

Update the NVIDIA app and drivers, enable the beta branch, and download the developer DLL (nvngx_dlls.dll) from the official GitHub.

Open the NVIDIA Overlay, go to Statistics → Custom, enable Super Resolution Model Overdrive, and press Alt+R to activate the overlay.

Load a game with DLSS enabled, then press Alt+Shift+] to cycle through the available DLSS presets. The overlay will show which preset is active.

Using OptiScaler for Extra Control

Download OptiScaler from its GitHub page, extract it, and place the files in the game’s root folder (usually under Binaries or bin). Run setup_windows.bat, choose the appropriate option, and follow the prompts for your GPU.

Start the game, press Insert to open the OptiScaler menu, enable Render Presets Overdrive, and select the desired DLSS preset from the dropdown. Apply changes to see the effect instantly.

To remove OptiScaler, run Remove OptiScaler.bat or replace the modified DLL with the original backup.

Key Points

  • Keep NVIDIA software on the latest beta version.
  • Use Alt+Shift+] to toggle DLSS presets.
  • OptiScaler works with older AMD GPUs and can force DLSS, FSR, or XeSS.
  • Test performance before committing to DLSS 4.5 on older RTX cards.
