Global Lyric Translations
Spotify first introduced lyric translations in 2022 and expanded them to more than 25 markets last year. The feature is now available worldwide, though only songs that support translations will show a translate icon on the lyrics card.
When a translation is available, the native‑language lyrics appear first, followed by the translated version. The language is chosen automatically based on your device settings, and you can switch back to the original lyrics at any time.
Offline Lyrics for All Users
Both free and Premium subscribers can now download lyrics along with the songs they save for offline listening. This means the words stay with you on a commute, a flight, or any place without internet access.
Lyric‑Based Glow‑Up in the Now Playing View
Spotify is refreshing the Now Playing screen to highlight lyrics more prominently, creating a “glow‑up” that makes it easier to follow along while the track plays.
How to Enable or Disable Lyrics
- Open the three‑dot menu on a playing track.
- Select “Lyrics Off” to hide the preview.
- Re‑select the option to turn lyrics back on.
What This Means for Listeners
The updates bridge the gap between hearing a song and understanding its words, encouraging deeper engagement and helping users rediscover tracks they love.
