Pixel 10a: An Upgrade or a Letdown?

The Pixel 9a was a budget Android phone that checked almost every box, with a combination of practical hardware, great cameras, excellent software, and good battery life. But with the Pixel 10a, it seems like Google is playing it safe, with no major upgrades in sight.

RAM: The Biggest Shortcoming

The Pixel 9a had just 8GB of RAM, which was its biggest shortcoming. Unfortunately, the Pixel 10a is expected to have the same amount of RAM, which is a major concern. Compared to other budget Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy A54, which has up to 12GB of RAM, the Pixel 10a falls short.

Missing Features

Due to the limited RAM, the Pixel 9a missed out on several Pixel features, including Pixel Screenshots and Call Notes. The Pixel 10a is likely to face the same issue, which is a major drawback. In comparison, the OnePlus Nord 3 has more features and better specs at a similar price point.

What's the Point of the Pixel 10a?

If the Pixel 10a doesn't address the RAM issue, it's hard to see the point of the upgrade. Google needs to have a solid sales pitch to convince fans to upgrade from the Pixel 9a. With the Pixel 10a expected to be announced on February 18, we'll have to wait and see what Google has in store.
