Nintendo Switch 2 Surpasses 17 Million Units Sold, Driving Record Financial Results

Record-Breaking Console Sales

Nintendo announced that the Switch 2 has sold 17.37 million units as of December 31 2025, just six months after its June 5 2025 launch.

The console added 7.01 million units in the last quarter, surpassing the holiday‑season boost and putting the company well on track to exceed its 19 million unit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2026.

Continued Success of the Original Switch

The 9‑year‑old original Switch still sold 3.25 million units in the quarter, pushing its lifetime total past 155 million units and overtaking the Nintendo DS as the company’s best‑selling hardware.

Strong Game Sales

Flagship titles are performing strongly on the new platform:

  • Mario Kart World – 14.03 million units (including bundles)
  • Donkey Kong: Bananza – 4.25 million units
  • Kirby Air Riders – 1.76 million units

Financial Highlights

  • Net sales: $12.25 billion (≈ 100 % YoY growth)
  • Operating profit: $1.93 billion (+21.3 %)
  • Ordinary profit: $2.93 billion (+51.3 %)
  • IP sales down 10.1 % YoY, offset by upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie release

Outlook and Future Prospects

With the Switch 2 on pace to break 20 million units and the original Switch still driving strong sales, Nintendo is positioned to maintain its momentum into the next fiscal year.
