Overview
Apple’s Limit Precise Location feature in iOS 26.3 restricts the granularity of location data shared with mobile networks, reducing it to the neighborhood level while keeping emergency services and app location services fully functional.
How to Enable
- Step 1: Open the Settings app, go to Cellular, and select your network provider to begin configuration. Ensure your device runs iOS 26.3 and the Limit Precise Location toggle is visible.
- Step 2: Tap Mobile Data Options, then choose Limit Precise Location. This option appears only on compatible devices with the C1 or C1X modem.
- Step 3: Toggle the switch ON to activate the feature. You will see a confirmation that location precision is now limited to the neighborhood level.
- Step 4: Restart your iPhone or iPad to apply the changes. After reboot, the setting remains active until you manually turn it off.
- Step 5: Verify the setting by checking the Location Services status; the phone will still provide accurate location to apps while networks receive only reduced data.
Supported Devices and Carriers
- Device: iPhone models with C1 or C1X modems, including the iPhone Air, iPhone 16e, and cellular M5 iPad Pro. All must run iOS 26.3 or iPadOS 26.3.
- Carrier: In the U.S., Boost Mobile supports the feature; in the UK, EE and BT provide support. Other carriers will add compatibility as they update their networks.
