Basic Requirements

DLSS relies on Tensor cores, so any RTX GPU qualifies. The update works across the entire RTX lineup, including RTX 2060, 2070, 2080, 3060, 3070, 3080, 3090 and their Ti/ Super variants.

Update Your Drivers and Nvidia App

DLSS 4.5 was introduced with driver version 591.74. Install the newest driver available and make sure you have the latest Nvidia App (v11.0.6 at the time of writing). The app provides global overrides and model presets required for the new transformer model.

Configuring DLSS 4.5

Open the Nvidia App and go to the Graphics tab on the left‑hand navigation bar. You will see two sections: Program Settings and Global Settings. Choose the scope you prefer:

  • Program Settings – apply DLSS 4.5 to a specific game or application.
  • Global Settings – apply the model universally.

For a universal change, scroll in Global Settings to DLSS Override – Model Presets and click the option to open the preset window.

Choosing a Preset

You will see three tabs: Use 3D app setting (Default), Recommended, and Custom. The Recommended tab automatically matches the appropriate DLSS 4.5 model to your quality setting.

If you prefer manual control, select Custom and then Super Resolution. A dropdown lists presets from A to M. For 1080p or 1440p displays, Preset M offers the best balance between quality and performance in Performance mode.

Recommended Settings

Most reviewers agree that DLSS 4.5 delivers a noticeable visual upgrade over DLSS 4.0. Nvidia suggests using individual tuning per game until broader support arrives.

Once configured, launch your game and enjoy the enhanced fidelity and frame rates.
