The Issue: Limited Control Over Video Playback

Google Photos is an excellent service, but it has its limitations. One of the major drawbacks is the lack of control over video playback speed. However, it seems like Google is working on addressing this issue.

The Reason: Enhanced User Experience

The ability to adjust video playback speed is a highly requested feature that can greatly enhance the user experience. With this feature, users can slow down or speed up videos to their liking, making it easier to analyze or enjoy their content.

The Solution: Adjustable Playback Speed and Immersive Grid View

According to recent discoveries, Google Photos v7.58 will introduce the ability to adjust playback speed. Users will be able to tap on the three dots on the top right and select the “Playback speed” option, which will present speed options including 0.25x, 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, and 2x.

Additionally, a new toggle will allow users to hide dates from the Photos view, creating a more immersive grid of photos without date separators.

To access these features, users can follow these steps:

  1. Update to the latest version of Google Photos (v7.58 or later).
  2. Play a video and tap on the three dots on the top right.
  3. Select the “Playback speed” option to adjust the playback speed.
  4. Toggle the “Hide dates” option to enable the immersive grid view.
