What is Gemini-Powered Audio Summaries?

Google Docs now leverages the Gemini AI model to generate concise, spoken summaries of any document. The feature extracts the most important points and presents them as an audio clip, letting users “listen” to the gist instead of scrolling through long text.

How to Use the Audio Summary Feature

Accessing the tool is straightforward:

  • Open the document in Google Docs.
  • Click Tools in the top menu.
  • Select AudioListen to document summary.

No additional admin settings or user toggles are required; the option appears automatically for eligible accounts.

Availability and Eligibility

The Audio Summary is currently limited to specific Google Workspace subscription tiers. It is offered to customers on the following plans:

  • Workspace Business Standard
  • Workspace Business Plus
  • Workspace Enterprise Essentials
  • Workspace Enterprise Standard
  • Workspace Enterprise Plus

Users on other plans or personal Google accounts will not see the feature until Google expands its rollout.
