Overview
Go Viking captures the core dilemma of push‑your‑luck games: keep raiding for greater loot or retreat before disaster strikes. Each turn is a single, dramatic dice roll that decides attack, defense, loot, and escape all at once.
Core Gameplay Mechanics
At the start of a turn you draw two Runestones, granting temporary Mythic Powers. You then roll the Destiny Dice, comparing your Axes to the enemy’s Shields. If Axes ≥ Shields you succeed; otherwise the raid fails. You may choose to roll again for bigger rewards, risking a harsher fall.
- Roll Destiny Dice – resolves attack, defense, loot, and escape in one moment.
- Compare Axes vs. Shields – determines success.
- Choose to continue raiding or end your turn – classic push‑your‑luck decision.
Mythic Powers
Runestones provide one‑turn divine abilities that can reshape the outcome.
- Odin – foresight to reroll fate.
- Freya – bend destiny, turning failure into opportunity.
- Thor – raw force that ignores shields.
- Loki – clash with other players, stealing loot at high risk.
These powers are strong, temporary, and unpredictable, ensuring no two turns feel the same.
Design Philosophy & Replayability
Go Viking is built for fast sessions, minimal setup, and high tension. The modular design lets you select which Mythic Powers appear, tailoring the game’s chaos or strategy level.
- Fast to learn, fierce to play.
- Endless replay value through random dice results and power combos.
- Scalable depth – casual raids or tactical sagas.
Expansions & Stretch Goals
The core game stands alone, while the “Reign of Heroes” expansion adds interaction and asymmetry. Planned stretch goals include new Mythic Powers and a solo mode for lone Vikings.
- Modular expansions integrate seamlessly.
- Additional powers increase variety without added complexity.
