Test Setup

The system used for testing consists of an RTX 2070 Super with 8 GB of VRAM paired with a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. The display is a standard 1080p panel, reflecting the most common gaming resolution today.

Benchmark Results – DLSS 4.0 (Model K)

  • Forza Horizon 5 (Extreme preset) – 66 FPS at 1080p
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (high settings) – 80.86 FPS average

Benchmark Results – DLSS 4.5 (Model M)

When DLSS 4.5 Performance is enabled, the RTX 2070 Super shows only a modest performance drop, averaging a 9.8 % “Turing tax.” Image quality is noticeably richer, and the visual output is close to that of newer cards such as the RTX 4070 Ti Super, especially when ray‑tracing is disabled.

Implications for Older GPUs

The small performance penalty makes DLSS 4.5 a viable upgrade for gamers using 20‑series cards. With roughly 32.6 % of gamers running 8 GB of VRAM and most playing at 1080p, the technology offers a clear benefit without requiring new hardware.
