Azahar Release 2124: What's New?

The latest update for Azahar, a popular Nintendo 3DS emulator, has been released, bringing with it a slew of new features and improvements. One of the most significant changes is the reduction of input latency, achieved by disabling Vsync by default and utilizing Android's frame pacing feature instead.

Another notable addition is the ability to compress and decompress ROMs, which can reduce file sizes by up to 45%. This feature is only available for decrypted ROMs, but it's a significant improvement for users with large game libraries.

New Features and Improvements

  • Reduced input latency
  • ROM compression and decompression
  • Background color, second screen opacity, and audio emulation settings
  • Toggle to hide Azahar's 3DS image files from Android photo galleries
  • Support for refresh rates above 60Hz

The update also includes a new emulated cartridge insertion function, which adds games to the emulated Home screen as if they were inserted into the card slot. However, this feature requires a modded 3DS to function.

System Requirements and Availability

The minimum supported version of Android has been bumped to Android 10, so users still on Android 9 will need to stick with an older version of the emulator. The latest version is available for download, and the Google Play version has also been updated simultaneously.
