CES 2026 Highlights AR Glasses
The dominant trend at CES 2026 was AR glasses, with more than a dozen brands unveiling new products. Notable examples included Even Realities G2 and Rokid’s AI Glasses.
Appotronics Enters the AR Light‑Engine Market
Known for laser projectors that use ALPD technology, Chinese brand Appotronics turned its focus to optical light engines for AR glasses, unveiling two models: the Dragonfly G1 Mini and the Dragonfly C1.
Technology Overview
Both engines are built on Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) technology. The key benefit is binocular imaging – a single light engine powers both lenses, unlike the monocular engine used in the Meta Ray‑Ban Display.
Positioning the engine in the center of the frame also allows thinner designs or larger batteries. The Dragonfly C1 is the first full‑color dual‑split LCoS design, using RGB LEDs for full‑color projection, while the G1 Mini uses a green LED.
Products
- Dragonfly G1 Mini – compact, green‑LED module used in Sharge’s upcoming Loomos S1 glasses (weighing 29 g).
- Dragonfly C1 – full‑color, dual‑split LCoS engine with RGB LEDs, enabling new AR use cases.
Impact on AR Glasses
The binocular, single‑module approach reduces weight and bulk, while full‑color projection expands functionality beyond simple notifications. Even Realities G2 currently uses green projection; RGB lenses promise richer experiences.
