Overview
Apple announced the opening of its first Apple Education Hub in Bengaluru, India, a centralized facility for training supplier employees and coordinating skill‑development initiatives across the country.
Education Hub Details
The Bengaluru hub, launching courses in March, is built in partnership with Manipal Academy of Higher Education, which will supply faculty and curriculum support. Initial offerings focus on:
- Digital literacy
- Swift programming
The hub serves as a model for future education centers within Apple’s supply‑chain ecosystem.
Expanded Supplier Training
Apple is rolling out an updated curriculum to more than 25 supplier facilities, starting with Tata Electronics. The program covers:
- Digital literacy
- Swift coding
- Robotics
- Automation technology
- Smart manufacturing practices
These courses are funded by Apple’s $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund.
Robotics and Disability Programs
Apple’s robotics education, launched in December 2024, trains factory educators in dedicated labs who then deliver hands‑on sessions at their sites. The program will expand to additional suppliers later this year.
Apple also grew its Vocational Education for Persons with Disabilities program, beginning with Salcomp and supported by Enable India. The initiative aims to improve employment, safety, and accessibility for disabled workers in the supply chain.
Impact and Future Outlook
With more than 75 existing programs covering technical, professional, health, and rights‑awareness training, Apple now reaches thousands of supplier employees in India, offering new career pathways and reinforcing workplace standards.
The Education Hub and expanded curriculum signal Apple’s long‑term commitment to upskilling its supply chain and fostering inclusive growth.
