Apple AirTag (2nd‑Gen) – What’s New?

The refreshed AirTag adds a stronger chip for 50% farther Precision Finding, a louder speaker, expanded Bluetooth range, and a $35 FindWoven Key Ring case while keeping the same design and battery life.

New Features

The new chip powers an upgraded Precision Finding feature that uses visual, haptic, and audio feedback to locate items up to 50 percent farther away. It also includes a speaker that is 50 percent louder and a new Bluetooth chip that expands the range at which items can be located.

Precision Finding works with Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2, and iPhone 11 and later.

Design and Battery

The overall design and battery life remain unchanged. The tracker still fits the same cases as its predecessor and the replaceable battery lasts “more than a year.”
