What’s New?

For the first time Android users can share photos, videos, or documents straight to an iPhone or Mac without third‑party apps. The new interoperability links Google’s Quick Share with Apple’s AirDrop.

How It Works

When both devices are set to be discoverable, Quick Share appears as an AirDrop option. The initial rollout is limited to Pixel 10 phones, and only when the Apple device’s AirDrop setting is set to “Everyone for 10 minutes.”

Current Limitations

  • Only Pixel 10 devices support the feature at launch.
  • Both devices must be in discoverable mode.
  • Apple devices must be set to “Everyone for 10 minutes.”
  • Support for other Pixel models (e.g., Pixel 9 and 9 Pro) is only in a Canary build and not yet public.

Looking Ahead

Google plans to expand Quick Share’s AirDrop compatibility to more Pixel models, starting with the Pixel 9 series. As the feature matures, we can expect broader device support, longer discoverability windows, and smoother cross‑platform transfers.
