Final Release of Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1

The Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 update is the concluding build of the QPR3 cycle. Google has announced that development focus will shift to the next beta program covering the Android 17 platform (26Q2).

Automatic Upgrade to Android 17 Beta 1

Devices that remain enrolled in the Android Beta Program will automatically receive Android 17 Beta 1. The upgrade cannot be declined without performing a factory‑data wipe, and the enrollment will stay active until the Android 17 beta cycle ends in June 2026.

How to Opt Out of the Android Beta Program

If you prefer not to test Android 17 Beta 1, you must:

  • Leave the Android Beta Program in Settings.
  • Ignore the “downgrade” OTA update that will appear.
  • Do not apply the downgrade OTA, otherwise a data wipe will occur.

Opting out itself does not trigger a data wipe, provided you do not install the downgrade OTA.

Important Dates and OTA Details

  • Final public stable release of Android 16 QPR3 (CP1A) is expected around March 2026.
  • The downgrade OTA message will contain the word “Downgrade” in its description.
  • The Android 17 Beta cycle runs until June 2026.
