Introduction

Amazon announced today that Alexa+, its generative‑AI version of the popular Alexa assistant, is now available to all U.S. users. After a year‑long preview, the service can be accessed on a growing lineup of Echo speakers, Echo Show displays, Fire TV, Fire tablets, and via the Alexa app or Alexa.com.

What Is Alexa+?

Alexa+ builds on the core Alexa experience with large‑language‑model capabilities. It can answer complex questions, generate stories, and hold natural‑language conversations without needing a screen.

How to Get Alexa+

There are three simple ways to start using Alexa+:

  • Sign up on the official Alexa+ website.
  • Ask any compatible Echo device, “How do I get Alexa+?”
  • Purchase a new Echo device that includes Alexa+ during the initial setup.

Unlike the earlier beta, there is no waitlist—once you set up a supported device, Alexa+ is ready to go.

Compatible Devices

Alexa+ works on the following Echo hardware (including Kids versions) and related Amazon products:

  • Echo (4th Gen) and Echo Dot
  • Echo Show 5, 8, 10, and 15
  • Echo Studio
  • Echo Pop
  • Fire TV devices
  • Fire tablets

If you already own one of these devices, you can enable Alexa+ in the Alexa app or during the device’s setup flow.

Free Alexa+ Plan

Amazon offers a free tier that lets users chat with the generative‑AI assistant through the Alexa app or a web browser at Alexa.com. The free plan includes basic conversational features, question answering, and story generation.
